November 11-17 is the Perioperative Nurses’ Week. Product Guide
Catalog is available to members who wish to get one for their
facility. These products can be ordered for your staff during
the Perioperative Nurses’ Week.

AORN Congress will be held in Anaheim, March 30-April 3, 2008.

The
President proposed that we discuss a “Hot
Topic”
each month, any topic that you are interested in to discuss as a
group, formal networking.

Vice

Register by September 30, Seats are limited to 40. Make sure you
bring hats and sunscreen.

The
speaker will be Dr. Yale Kadesky, a Plastic Surgeon from
Palomar. He will talk about “Wounds – Surgical and Non-Surgical”

Spring Workshop will be on February 2, 2008. It will be about
Safety, Documentation, to name a few…

The
topic for our October meeting will be “Pediatrics in the OR”` By
Coletta Gaceta.
Treasurer’s Report:
The
Treasurer's Report is available to the membership via the newsletter
and at the General Meetings.
By
Laws and Policy:
Changes
and revisions made to the by laws and policy were presented to the
membership. A motion was made and seconded that the changes made to
the by laws and policy be approved. Motion passed.
Nominating Committee:
It is
not too early to think about serving the Board. If interested, let
Mel Bridges, Maureen Pennington or Donna Lewis know your thoughts
and they will bring you up to speed on what the different Board
positions entail.
Hospitality:
-
Refreshments were provided by Tri-City. Thank You.
-
There are lots of novelties on sale at the front like bracelets,
necklaces, key holders, etc…. Funds raised do to the chapter.
-
This month’s educational offering is sponsored Alphatec®.
Scholarship:
-
The deadline to apply
for CNOR/CRNFA Scholarship is November 1st.
The chapter will refund half the cost for first time candidates
that pass the exam.
-
First time Congress attendees are eligible for a $400.00 grant.
-
$300.00 was the total given in scholarship grants during the
past year.
Golf:
Next
year’s golf tournament will be held again at Twin Oaks on June 6,
2008.
Ways
and Means:
-
Entertainment Books are now available for sale. The cost is $40.

We
are still looking into different pins. Panda pins – the symbol
of our chapter. Mel is still looking for designers and vendors.
Announcements:
-
Jim
Stobinski (former Chapter member and Vice President) is running
for the CCI Board of Directors.
-
Clifford Jordan – past AORN Executive Director has passed away.
Memorial services will be held in Pennsylvania. San Diego
Chapter would like to donate $500.00 to the foundation in his
name. A motion was made and seconded that the chapter donate
$500. Motion passed. Anyone is welcome to give individual
donations in his name.

Marilyn Sanderson is
running for National AORN Board of Directors.
-
Patrick Voight is running unopposed for the AORN President 2008.
There
being no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned at
2025 until the next General Meeting to be held on November 22, 2007
at the AMN Healthcare facilities.
