Approval of Minutes: The minutes of February 22, 2007, General meeting was approved as written in the newsletter. Officer & Committee Reports: Presidents Report: Candise welcomes everyone, and thanked AMN Healthcare for their gracious invitation to host this meeting in their office spaces. Congress was fun this year! Next year it will be in Anaheim, CA, hope everyone can attend. President Elect:· April 10, at 5pm is the newsletter deadline. Willingness to serve forms is available at the Hospitality table. We will print candidate statements in the April and May newsletters. Vice President: · The spring workshop will be at Naval Medical Center. May 19, 2007, please mark your calendars. Clinical lectures will be presented in small breakout sessions in their education center. There will be a new products display in the exhibit hall. Please encourage the vendors at your facility to participate. Breakfast will be provided by Cardinal Health®, Lunch by Microtek® and Sandel® is sponsoring the mailings/advertising for this event. The next general meeting will be held at Sharp Spectrum. The topic is still pending.Treasurer/Finance: Report not available at this time. Will be presented at the next General Meeting.· The board voted on a $500.00 donation on behalf of the chapter to the AORN Foundation. · The board voted to fund delegates and alternates $800.00 each. The funds available last year was lower thereby the delegates were funded at a lower rate. This year, with fundraising, the chapter is able to give more funds to delegates. A motion is made to approve funds of $800.00 per delegate. The motion is seconded. The motion is approved by all present. By-Laws & Policy: No report at this time. Membership: 362 members; 340 std. 21 lapsing. Membership Questionnaires are available tonight, please fill them out. Linda will report on her findings at the April General Meeting. Legislative: Please read your newsletter. California Legislation is looking at providing protection for whistle blowers in HealthCare facilities. The Feds are developing a pilot program to assist facilities to eliminate nosocomial infections. Nominating Committee: Willingness to serve forms is available on line and in the newsletter. · Seven positions open for next year
Spring Workshop: See VP report. Informatics: Email ability for or website was shut down due to “Mega-Spam” attacks. It is up now but it is informational only. If you want to request information or to speak to a board/committee member please use the numbers in the newsletter. The website email may be up again in 2-3 months. Hospitality: Thank you to AMN Health care for the use of their facilities. We have raffle items, posters and books from Congress. Scholarship: CNOR/CRNFA applications are available on line for members. They will be printed in the April newsletter. Golf Committee: · June 8, 2007. Twin Oaks, San Marcos, CA. We would like to have more volunteers for this event. Ways and Means: · Our fundraising table at Congress netted $910.00. Thanks to Maina Tauiliili for manning our table at Congress and for sewing the scrub hats. We need ideas for fundraising next year and volunteers to man the table at next years Congress. Research: Please submit ideas for topics to Jim. Unfinished Business: None New Business: None Announcements: · Proposal for RNFA program at UCLA has been submitted, thanks to everyone for your feedback via the ORNCC portal. · Sally Bixby, RN, has been chosen as the 2013 Tournament of Roses President and Chair. There will be a float in the parade for nurses. They need volunteers for fundraising. The National Student Nurses Association has voted to return OR nursing into the curriculum, our association is working with them to achieve this goal. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned at 1905. The next meeting is scheduled for 6:15pm, April 26, 2007 at the Sharp Spectrum. Center in San Diego.
