The 2010-2011 Chapter Year is coming to a close. Join us in celebration at our June 23rd Dinner Meeting!

We have some exciting events for our Chapter this month! Friday June 10, 2011 is our Annual Golf Tournament, this year at Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside. Here is the flyer for the event, there is still time to participate.

We also have our year-end dinner meeting and installation of officers; please join us for this event to thank our out going board members and welcome the 2011-2012 board and new president Lisa Finch. The event is scheduled for June 23 at the Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego. Here is the information.

Some other exciting new is that our chapter now has a Facebook page, "AORN San Diego Chapter", please check it out; it will be updated weekly.

It has been my pleasure serving as your chapter President this year. I thank everyone for their support and participation in our chapter. I look forward to seeing you all at the golf tournament and installation of officers.

I want to thank you all for another wonderful year and allowing our chapter to represent you here in San Diego and across the nation.

It has been a pleasure and a great learning experience for me to serve you in the position of Vice President. It is my goal to have an even better and more productive next year.

As we get ready to break for the summer let's leave on a high note and celebrate the National Time Out Day on June 15th. With 40,000 voices for safe OR practices, AORN members can influence the entire surgical team's commitment to providing Time Out for every patient, every time.

AORN.org web site offers many ways to promote this special day. I have sent a letter to the local newspapers inviting them to join with us and share information on this valuable tool we have with the public.

And lastly before we begin our summer and plan for the fall remember to mark your calendars for our chapter instillation dinner on June 23. Don't forget, we be goin Hawaiian style.

The annual Chapter Dinner and Installation of new officers is a tradition and a way to say thank you to those who have served, those who will continue to serve, and those will be moving on. Join us as we thank outgoing President Michelle Fennell and welcome incoming President Lisa and her new board.

"Tropical Dress Contest"- Come to the Bali Hai Restaurant on June 23rd at 6:00 pm dress in you best tropical outfit and be ready for a fun evening of food, drink and celebration. Print the flyer and share with a colleague and bring a friend. The cost is $35.00 which includes dinner, taxes, and gratuity. Please RSVP to Peka Ritchey or you may pay at the door.

Meeting called to order at 1820 by President Michelle Fennell.

Presidents Report: ORNCC meeting minutes available on the website.  The chapter would like to set up a Facebook page and we are looking for someone to spearhead this new endeavor.  We will be celebrating our chapter’s 60th birthday night with cake, Vickie Pierce read minutes from the first meeting of the chapter, and Julie Stevens shared some of her thoughts from when she first became a member in 1959.  We will be looking into the opportunities to decorate and visit the Nurse Float in the 2013 Rose Parade.  Reminder that June 15th is National Time Out Day.  Perioperative Nurse Week is November 7-13, 2011.

President-Elect: Deadline for website news June 6th.   Lisa announced there will be a “Tropical Dress Contest” at the June Dinner Meeting.

Treasurer:  March balance $27189.01, income $604.67, interest of $.55, expenses of $3927.82, leaving an April balance of $23,866.41.

Vice President:  Tonight’s speaker is Dr. Matthew Lutch from Kaiser; he will be speaking on “Awake Surgery of the Larynx.

Scholarship:  Reminder of all scholarships and grants available, information on the website.

Nominating Committee:  Election tonight.  Voting ends at the end of the social time.

Ways & Means: Raffle tickets available tonight.  We will continue the Flowers 4 the Float Campaign.
