San Diego AORN General Meeting February 22, 2007

Approval of Minutes:  The minutes of January 25, 2007, General meeting was approved as written in the newsletter.

Officer & Committee Reports:

Presidents Report:

·        Candise welcomes everyone, new associate members were welcomed, not RN’s but we want to welcome them to our chapter.

·        The new National CEO was named in the AORN bulletin, Linda Groah.

·        CCI will have as Certification Oasis at Congress, be sure you see them there if you want to take the test. Study books, 10, are available for your facilities compliments of Nancy Lilliot, be sure you pick one up tonight.

·        National Nurse’s week is May 6-12.

·        Candise is the ORNCC‘s liaison to CA society of Anesthesiologists, congratulations Candice!

President Elect:

• March 6 at 5 pm is the deadline for newsletter items.
• Everyone is encouraged to write articles and submit them.
• Ads Cost: $15, one quarter of a page, $25.00 for half a page, $50.00 for a full page.                                                                                                                        

Vice President:

• The spring workshop will be at Naval Medical Center.  May 19, 2007, please mark your calendars.  Clinical lectures will be presented in small breakout sessions in their education center.  There will be a new products display in the exhibit hall, breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Please encourage the vendors at your facility to participate.

• March 22 general meeting will be at AMN Health Care. We are working on getting a speaker, the previous speaker cancelled.  If anyone has a suggestion for an alternate speaker , please contact Jim.

Treasurer/Finance:  No report at this time.

By-Laws & Policy:  No report at this time.

Membership:  

·         18 lapsed members

·         Membership Questionnaires are available tonight, please fill them out.  Our board members will be contacting individuals to determine what our chapter membership needs are.

Legislative:  Please read your newsletter.

At this time there are legislations and discussions in progress re the RN scope of practice,

RNFA role and Patient Safety issues.

Nominating Committee: Willingness to serve forms is available on line and in the newsletter.

Fall and Spring Workshop:

• See VP report.

Informatics:  Our website is still having spam problems, but Mel is winning.

 Hospitality: Thank you Palomar for the refreshments.  We have 2 raffle items tonight we encourage everyone to buy a ticket.

 Scholarship:

• CNOR/CRNFA applications are available on line for members.
• Grants for first time Congress Attendees are available in the newsletter or on line, deadline is March 1.
• There is an online study course for the CNOR test.

Golf Committee:

• June 8, 2007. Twin Oaks, San Marcos, CA.

Ways and Means:

• Donations of raffle items for General meetings are greatly appreciated.

Research: Please submit ideas for the committee to Jim.

Announcements:

• TCMC is sponsoring a surgical weekend at Fresh Start, March 24 and 25.  Candise is encouraging everyone to volunteer.  Contact hours are available for volunteering and they have access to a website that has more free contact hours of education, so please come out and volunteer.

 There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned at 1845.  The next meeting is scheduled for 6:15pm, March 22, 2007 @ AMN Health Care.
