Chapter Delegate Information

Delegates for our Chapter are selected each year based on a point system. Delegates will be selected for the 2012 AORN Congress in the month of January 2012.

Potential delegates are urged to review the Chapter Bylaws Section IV concerning delegates and to review pages 13-19 in the Policy Manuel. Once you have read these pages, please complete the Willingness to Serve Form and bring it to the January Chapter meeting. .

Eligibility:
Delegates are allocated annually to each chapter based on the ratio of total chapter membership to total Association membership as of June 30. Each chapter will have a minimum of one delegate and one alternate.

Representation:
Chapter delegates and alternates to annual Congress must have current membership status and shall be selected utilizing the Point system as outlined in the Chapter Delegate Eligibility Policy. Specialty assembly delegates may not serve as a chapter delegate.
The President and President –Elect assume delegate status to Congress each year.

Responsibilities:

  1. Points shall be accumulated by members from December 16 through December 15 of the following year. Points should be given, email or mailed to the board appointed points recorder prior to Dec. 16.

  2. A minimum of six (6) general or board meetings must be attended.
    If extenuating circumstances exist which will prevent them from meeting this criteria, the board of directors may waive this requirement, and accept their application

  3. Delegates and alternates shall acquaint themselves with all the act ivies and business of the association and be present for all the issues presented to the voting body. They shall attend all business meetings of the House of Delegates.

1. Chapter education presenter, workshop presenter, and Congress presenter, shall be defined as the person who present the subject matter of a session for at least 50 minutes.

2. The Chapter education panel member, the workshop panel member, or the Congress panel member shall actually participate in the subject matter of a panel for at least 50 minutes.

3. The Speakers Bureau Presenter shall be defined as the member who presents the subject of Perioperative Nursing to the community audience, (nursing school, career days, community/service clubs, surgical outreach programs) for a minimum of 30-50 minutes for a maximum of 21 points per member annually.

 

We suggest you print the delegate point form and track your Chapter participation during the year. The deadline for turning in your delegate point sheet is December each year.
