AORN Committees
The following committees do the work of the organization.
Bylaws & Policy-this committee reviews the bylaws of the Chapter annually and submits recommendations for revision to the Board of Directors.

Golf Tournament-this committee manages the annual major fund raising event for the chapter each year.
Chair: Anne Hones
Hospitality-this committee greets all members and guest, provides nametags at each meeting, arranges for refreshment at the general meetings, and makes arrangements for all dinner meetings for board approval.
Chair: Karen Thomas
Social Media-this commmittee encourages the use of web-based and mobile technologies for social interaction, interactive dialogue, and educational purposes. Plenty of opportunities for input among members and guests exist and are desired. Social media forms of expression are important as traditional oral and written expression. This committee will monitor and input and expects behaviors that are respectful, careful, responsible and accountable. Derogatory postings will be deleted. Copyrighted materials, without approval and credits, should be avoided.

Legislative-this committee keeps the membership abreast of information concerning nursing legislation on the state and national level. They correspond with appropriate persons or groups to obtain current information on legislative and regulatory issues.

Membership-this committee promotes the growth and development of the membership, sends letters of welcome to new and transferring members, they contact those whose membership has lapsed, and they maintain a current roster.

Nominating-this committee advises potential candidates of the responsibilities of the office they may seek and obtain a signed consent form. They prepare a list of nominees as per Bylaws based on the eligibility for the annual election and submit this list to the membership at the April meeting. They prepare the ballot for the annual election.
Best Practices-If you would like to get involved in the chapter without making a huge commitment, this is the committee for you. We are currently looking at and reviewing web site links to post on our chapter's resource page. We are available to the board to conduct research on issues that may affect our chapter members, like what is the best time and day for meetings to allow for the greatest membership participation. Come to the next meeting with your questions and we can see if this committee will work for you.

Scholarship-this committee provides a mechanism for members to receive funding from the Association while continuing their studies in nursing. They review the applications and decide upon the recipients as well as determine the amount of monies to be awarded. They present the recipient (s) with their scholarship at the June dinner meeting.

Ways and Means-this committee develops a fund-raising plan for the Association to be submitted to the board for discussion and approval and then share it with the membership. They implement the fund raising plan collecting all funds and turning them over the the Treasurer.

Fall/Spring Workshop-this committee plans both the fall and spring workshops for the Chapter.
