PROPOSED BY-LAWS CHANGES

AORN members, THE byLaws committee IS PROPOSING THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE BY-LAWS OF THE sAN Diego chapter OF AORN.  these PROPOSED CHANGES ARE BEING MADE TO UPDATE IN ACCORDANCE WITH national's BYLAWS AND policies, AND TO ALLOW FLEXIBILITY FOR ON-LINE COMMUNICATION WITH OUR MEMBERS.

  1. Page3, Article X, Section1, A - Delete "six (6)" and insert "four(4)"
  2. The Board of Directors shall meet a minimum of four (4) times during the year.
  3. The total number of meetings has been reduced.
  4. Page 3, Article x, Section 1, B - Delete "be"
  5. The President or the majority of the Board of Directors may call special meetings of the Board of Directors
  1. To be eligible for elective office a nominee must currently provide or have previously provided nursing care that addresses the needs of patients preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively for one (1) year prior to nomination; or be a chapter member transferred from another chapter with documentation.
  1. Page 3, Article XI, Section 1, B - Delete "two" and insert "one."
While it is helpful to have been a member for two years before serving on the Nominating Committee, the reduced requirement will make more members eligible to serve in this capacity.
  1. Page 3, Article XI, Section 3, C - Insert "These requirements may be waived by a majority vote of the Board of Directors on an individual basis."
